New Year's Day and beyond
The season does not end with the new year: there is a swim, a parade and one final feast still to come before the lights come down.
The New Year's Day swim
Hardy locals take a short dip in the sea on the morning of 1 January. Watching from the sand with a coffee is an entirely respectable alternative.
The Three Kings, 6 January
The last big date: gifts in the morning, a family lunch, and shops and museums largely closed. The lights usually stay up through the following weekend.
Cava season
Cava is the default festive drink from November onwards, and the cellars of the Penedès an hour south run extra tours through the holidays.
